Offered is a like new limited edition Leica 50mm f1.2 Noctilux-M ASPH in Silver finish in box. Interesting about this set is that Leica used the wrong dark grey box for this lens. The silver Noctilux lenses have the code 11702 while this box is labbeled with 11686 which is the black Noctilux lens. The label on the bottom however says 11702 and the correct serial number (see the last picture). The outer grey box also shows 11702 and the correct number and so does the paperwork.
The original Leica 50mm f1.2 Noctilux was produced from 1966 until 1975 and was the first lens with aspherical lens elements. In fact that lens had 2 aspherical lens elements and these were hand polished. You can imagine how difficult it was to produce that lens. That lens has unique characteristics especially with the aperture wide open. The lens is famous and everybody likes the unique bokeh of that lens.
In the new Leica 50mm f1.2 Noctilux-M ASPH lens, Leica tried to keep the original characteristics. The calculation and construction of the new lens are close so similar to the original lens that the results are nearly identical.
Very interesting about this lens is that Leica made about 5 or 6 prototype Noctilux lenses in the 60's and these were also silver. The production model was only available in black. This current silver lens will be very interesting for both users and collectors. Not many will be available on the market and together with the original silver one a definite must have for real collectors.
The lens was not used often as you can see on the pictures. Top condition with full packaging, all boxes, all accessories and all papers. As said very interesting as it comes with the wrong box.
