Alpa

Alpa

Alpa is a Swiss brand known for high-quality 35mm SLR cameras made by Pignons S.A. since the 1940s, later transitioning to medium-format cameras under new ownership in 1996. Alpas are prized for their solid, cast-metal construction and simple controls. Standard lenses, such as the Kern-Switar, were used, with the Alpa 10d featuring a rare macro 50mm lens. Initially designed by Jacques Bogopolsky as the Bolca Reflex, the brand was acquired by Pignons in 1942. Alpa ceased 35mm production in 1990 but continues making specialized medium-format cameras today.
