
Fuji
Fuji Shashin Film K.K., later Fujifilm, was founded on January 20, 1934, as an offshoot of Dainippon Celluloid Co., Ltd. Based in Minami-Ashigara, Kanagawa, the company began producing optical glass for military use in the 1940s. In 1944, Fuji Shashin Kōki K.K. was founded but merged back into Fuji in 1945. After WWII, Fuji established several related companies under the Fujifilm Group. Fuji began making cameras in 1948, using the Fujica brand, which became Fuji in the 1980s and Fujifilm in the 1990s. Notable models include the Fujica Six, TX-1, GX617, and X-Pro series.
