Hasselblad

Founded in 1941 by Victor Hasselblad in Gothenburg, Sweden, the company began as a photo equipment store. Victor’s passion for quality led him to design his own medium-format cameras, which used larger film than the standard 35mm. In 1948, Hasselblad released its first major camera, the Hasselblad 1600F, known for its sturdy build and interchangeable lenses.

In the 1970s and 1980s, the Hasselblad 500 series became popular with professional photographers for its modular design, allowing easy lens and accessory changes. These cameras were favored for their sharp, high-quality images in commercial, portrait, and landscape photography.
